About Skin I’m In Fashion Week
Skin I’m In Fashion Week is more than a runway experience — it is a movement created to celebrate representation, creativity, confidence, accessibility, and the power of being seen.
Founded on the belief that every BODY should be represented, Skin I’m In Fashion Week brings together fashion, art, media, performance, storytelling, community impact, and meaningful recognition in a powerful annual event that honors people of all backgrounds, abilities, ages, skin tones, body types, and lived experiences.
Through our awards program, we proudly recognize individuals and community stories through honors such as The Overcomer Award, The Universal Humanity Award, and The Damus N. Wynn Memorial Scholarship Award. These moments of recognition celebrate courage, resilience, service, humanity, purpose, and creative promise — deepening the mission of Skin I’m In Fashion Week by honoring not only what people wear on the runway, but who they are, what they have overcome, and the impact they make in the world.
What began as a bold platform for visibility has grown into a signature experience where designers, models, creatives, sponsors, honorees, scholarship recipients, community leaders, and supporters come together to celebrate humanity through fashion, purpose, and impact.
A Fashion Week With a Greater Purpose
Skin I’m In Fashion Week now proudly serves as the annual fundraising benefit for The Skin I’m In Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access, opportunity, and representation through year-round creative education, career-pathway exposure, and community service.
Proceeds and sponsorship support help fund Foundation programs that provide beginner-friendly, expert-led workshops for youth and adults. These programs introduce participants to real-world opportunities in front of and behind the camera, stage, and runway, including photography, videography, directing, lighting, sound, editing, production support, performance, presentation, and other creative industry roles.
Through this connection, Skin I’m In Fashion Week becomes more than a show. It becomes a bridge between visibility and opportunity.
Why We Exist
We exist because representation matters.
Too many people have been overlooked, underestimated, excluded, or made to feel that there was no place for them in fashion, media, entertainment, production, or creative spaces. Skin I’m In Fashion Week challenges that narrative by creating a platform where difference is not hidden — it is honored.
Our runway reflects the real world: adaptive models, individuals with disabilities, people of all ages, all sizes, all skin tones, unique features, and diverse stories. We believe beauty is not one look, one ability, one age, one body type, or one background.
Every BODY belongs. Every BODY has value. Every BODY should be represented.
